Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. But for a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these traits came as a natural. Maureen moved into this loving home on August 17, 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was an athletic natural and enjoyed playing tough sporting games. Additionally her talent, she also had a knack acting. She won almost all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama the country could provide. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she continued to pursue her dream of opera and classical singing and theater.
